Kasey6th May 2005 - 4:36 PM
I have some rather distant ARCENEAUX-ARSENAULT lines in my tree. Joseph ARSENAULT m. Marie BERGERON, their daughter Marianne (Marie Anne) ARCENAUX who was the second wife of Isaac LEBLANC in 1786 in St. James Parish, Louisiana. There is also a Denise ARCENEAUX and a number of others whom aren't my direct ancestors.

You may reach me at kaseysworld2@yahoo.com

Kasey

Kasey6th May 2005 - 4:45 PM
Denise ARCENAUX is also a direct ancestor. She was the daughter of Jean Charles ARCENAUX m. Marie BABIN, about the 1760s.

Denise ARCENAUX m Edouard SAULNIER 4 Feb 1799 (son of Joseph SONNIER m Marie BREAU, 1777). Denise's son, Joseph SAULNIER b 22 Dec 1802 m Marie Josette PERCLE, 26 Feb 1827.

Notice the many spellings of the surnames!!!

My father's lawyer, now probably deceased, in New Orleans, was Charles Arceneaux. His office was in the Hibernia Bank Bldg. You might check the records there to see if there's any paper trail to locate members of his family.

Michael D. Arcceneaux6th May 2010 - 1:03 AM
My name is michael D. Arceneaux from Morgan City, Louisiana. My father is Melvin Arceneaux and his father was Andrew Arceneaux from Franklin, Louisiana now deceased.
My great grandfather Leoma Arceneaux andd his father Hubert Arceneaux. We trace our lineage back to Pierre Arsenault born 1646 somewhere is France. He piloted the first ships with Jaques Bourgeois from France and was part of the settlement of Beaubasin in Canada which is now Novis Scotia, Canada. These vilages were burned when the cajuns were forced out of Canada.

I would like to get more information on the decendents of Pierre Arsenault and who the spelling of the last name got changed to Arceneaux. I would also like to get information on the Arsenaults in Prince Edwards Isle, Canada and where the family originated from in France.
Would like to get more information on Duke Abraham Arceneaux born 27Dec.1610 in Paris France and married Sarah LaBlanc in 7Jun1631 in Paris France. Duke Abraham Arceneaux may be the father of the first Arceneaux's who came to Canada or perhaps directly to Louisiana from France

Please let me know if you have any information pertaining to Pierre Arsenault or Duke Abraham Arceneaux.

Well, I may have heard the name, Arceneaux's however I'm familiar with the name Davillier. I'm a Davillier and my great grandmother's name was Anges but her name was Anges Clavire (I think that is how it is spelled). I would think your grandmother could give you some information on the name Arceneaux. Did you try Google and see what comes up. You may also want to go to the Censers and see what comes up. Anges Clavire was married to Alexander Davillier back in the 1800. We also seem to have land that we can't get to due to a classic case of fraud. I wish you luck. There are many places to go to find the living and the dead you just have to keep looking. You may even want to go to Unclaimed Property and enter the name to see if that name appears

There never was a Duke Abraham Arceneaux. He was a fabrication made in 1766 to keep the Spanish Gov. Ulloa from attacking the Arceneaux families who lived along the Mississippi River during the revolt against the Spanish at the time. Here is where the TRUE Arceneaux's came from. The town was Migre, France and Mathurin ARSONNEAU married to Michelle Giraud had two sons. The first was Pierre born Aug. 3, 1612 in Migre and married Jeanne Goizin. The other son was Francois born Oct. 8, 1623 in Migre. Pierre had a son named Pierre born Sept. 25, 1646 in Migre. This Pierre was the progenator of the Acadian Arceneaux's. Francois immigrated to Quebec in 1665 and was the progenator of the French Canadian (Quebec) Arceneaux's. I decend from Francois so all the Acadians from Pierre are in a sort of fashion, my nephews and nieces.
